Aloha Means Hello and Goodbye...
Obviously, I've had a very hard time keeping up with Sage and Savvy Sentiments.
For those with multiple sites--I don't know how you do it! I thought about combining my personal posts back with Sage and Savvy, but an opportunity arose to contribute to a blog about life in Hawaii, so I'll be there instead and will no longer post on Sage and Savvy Sentiments.
Don't know when the new site will be up and running yet, but when it is, I'll post the link here and hope you'll visit me there!
In the meantime, you can still visit me at Sage and Savvy!
Aloha!

Happy Birthday Tears
Little Music Man hates the song Happy Birthday.
It all started a year or so ago. We were at a restaurant and it was another customer's birthday and the servers started singing and Little Music Man started screaming.
Ever since then, whenever people sing that song, he cries and cries and cries.
I don't know if it's the actual song that bothers him, or all the cheering and clapping afterwards.
Whenever we go to a birthday party, I try to take him outside while the guests sing happy birthday.
Recently one of his classmates in preschool celebrated her birthday and the teacher wrote in the communication book how he cried when they sang happy birthday, thinking he cried because it was a change in routine, but I explained to her why he probably cried.
So she said that every so often they would try to sing happy birthday during class just to get Little Music Man used to the song.
I hope it works.
Because his birthday is just a few months away and I sure don't want him screaming at his own birthday party!

As White as a Ghost
That's probably how I looked--as white as a ghost, when I found a hair on my head that was also as white as a ghost.
I anticipate getting white hair, and I don't mind it, but what shocked me about my white strand of hair it that it was chin-length!
How could I have not noticed this hair? I brush my hair everyday, and you would think I would have noticed it as soon as it started growing.
But no...
So when I saw it the other day while I was brushing my hair, I thought for sure it was the glare of the sun shining on this one strand of hair.
But as I looked closer, I realized it was indeed a white hair.
A very long white hair.
I really don't mind it. It's just I don't know how I could have missed it...

Preschool Germs
All my friends told me that once Little Music Man started preschool he'd get sick a lot.
So, I was prepared for it.
What I wasn't prepared for is him getting sick after just one day!
At first I thought maybe he got sick from something/somewhere/someone else, but after finding out that one of my friend's sons, who is also in the same preschool class, got sick after the first day, I knew Little Music Man got sick in preschool.
And this meant others in our family would inevitably get sick...
Before I had kids I was hardly ever sick, but these days, with the lack of sleep, I guess I'm more vulnerable to catching the kids' colds.
And the fact that Little Music Man doesn't always cover his mouth when he coughs and sneezes doesn't help either!
So Smiley Boy and I both caught Little Music Man's cold, and fortunately DH was spared this time around. And it was a mild cold that Little Music Man got over fairly quickly.
*SIGH*
I love that he's in preschool and getting his speech therapy and interacting with other kids his age and learning so much.
I just don't love the germs.
But at least he's building up his immunity, right?

Preschool Tears
Little Music Man recently started preschool, and of course, there were lots and lots of tears, but I was surprised that the most tears were being shed by DH!
It was so sad to see our little boy grow up and enter the world of preschool. He cried and didn't want to go, but we had to be strong and just told him "good-bye," but as soon as he left our sight, the tears started flowing.
But my tears stopped shortly thereafter, and it was DH who kept crying. It was cute (it kinda reminded me of our wedding when he cried and I didn't).
It was weird to be without Little Music Man, even if it was just for a few hours.
Even when we went to go grocery shopping and returned home, DH, out of habit, went to Little Music Man's side of the car to let him out, only to forget that he was in school.
Awww....
I'm excited that he's in preschool (although not excited about all the germs). He'll continue with speech therapy and hopefully he'll be developmentally caught up with speech in no time...
I do still get sad whenever he leaves for school...I just wonder if it'll get easier each year or harder...

DIRTY Laundry
DH and I have found lots of things while doing the laundry--most are caught before they go into the washer. Some are caught before going into the dryer, and and a few items just don't get caught at all.
We've found movie stubs, receipts, batteries, and toys in the washer, and sometimes in the dryer.
However, one day DH did the laundry (yes, I'm blaming it on him), and when I went to take the clothes out of the dryer, I nearly threw up.
I found one of Smiley Boy's disposable diapers.
It was a poopy diaper.
Fortunately, Smiley Boy's eating solids so that means his poopy is also solid (sorry, I know, TMI).
Also, the diaper was wrapped up neatly and tightly.
This meant no poopy leaked out.
But still...the thought of that diaper being washed and then dried with all of the clothes...
Needless to say, we washed and dried the load all over again.
And now we're extra, extra careful when doing the laundry.
